I’ve heard that this film is even closer to the comics (which I’ve never read) than the original, but to me (again, as a guy with no knowledge of the Hellboy universe outside of these two films), certain parts of it felt a little too much like MIB to me.
And, as I’ve stated several times, these reviews are simply the opinions of a guy who doesn’t claim to be an expert on movies.
The bad guy was much more menacing (and had more of a presence) this time around.
The puppet-like visuals during the opening scene were really interesting and nicely done.
They toned that aspect way down this time around.
I enjoyed the first a lot more, but this one is pretty good, too.
