Find out where Germany is with a Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason review

BridgetJonesTheEdgeOfReason

Plot

Oh look. They remade the first one and gave it a different title, even down to a stupid fight in the third act.

Characters

These characters don’t hold up well for two movies.

Visuals

The mushroom-induced hallucination scenes were interesting.

Product Placement

Ignoring everything else, that Coke billboard was pretty obvious.

Rewatchability

This is one of those movies that doesn’t really need to exist, so I’ll pretend it doesn’t.

  1. I think we lost a little bit of the book in this one which is a better sequel than the movie is. I can dig the criticism of it being a carbon copy….it’s lost some of the soul of the book. When I read Edge of Reason, I was struck by how well the author (intentionally or unintentionally – I’m not sure) made a strong argument for how feminism has failed women (in particular, failed to bring happiness and fufillment). I got none of that from the movie.

    • I did read quite a bit about how different the book and movie are. Apparently even the US and UK versions of the movie were vastly different from each other too
